How difficult would it be to start my own online clothing store?

December 25th, 2012 4 comments

Like I am guessing this would cost a ton more money than I am expecting. So like how much does it cost to start your own online clothing store business? I know how to design websites because that is what I am studying in college so I can make my own site but like how does one go about starting an online clothing business? I am curious to know! Thanks.

Not much! don’t fall into the trap of big cartel and all those shit websites where you can put your products up and put prices up, the coding is horrible and unconventional if you expand in the future. Buy a do!main and hosting (£10-£20), use WordPress to get a custom theme and pump your logo into it, (Free!) then find a plugin for WordPress that offers e-shopping capabilities, there will be LOADS!

The most important factor however is the clothes haha! The presentation of the website is important but for now startup costs need to be low. However to make money you must spend it, start by selling printed apparel, such as slogan/logo T-shirts, Jumpers, Trousers etc. Then once you gain the capital you can outsource to a printing and embroidery company, but for now do it all yourself via an iron, some cheap (primark if in the UK) clothes and Transfer Paper. Basically you print off your design via your printer onto the transfer paper (can be bought from stationary shops), then use an iron or heat press to transfer it to the apparel.

But don’t fall into the trap of coming across websites which offer ‘great deals’ for printing t-shirts, do it yourself to start out! otherwise you’ll soon find you’re tied into stupid terms and conditions and the one-off costs can really add up!

One last thing, don’t go into the saturated market, by this I am assuming you are following the trend of ‘starting your own clothes line’ which is highly hipster-fashion related. This market is far too saturated and by my predictions the hipster phase will be truly dead by May 2013 -STAY AWAY FROM IT!

Are there any sites where I can print a decent variety of monogram designs/fonts to hand embroider? Obviously this is for the purpose of making a pattern. I am looking for free of course if possible but all info is appreciated.

Yes there are. If you click up in the search bar at the top of the page and type in "monogram embroidery patterns free" you’ll find a bunch. And you can do that just as easily as I can.

I would like to start doing embroidery for infant clothing. Can someone guide me how to start?

December 3rd, 2012 3 comments

Do I need to take classes for this? I saw someone had a computer program and from that it went to the machine. I just don’t know what I need to get other that an embroidery machine obviously. Do they come with computer programs? Thanks!

Two good machines to start with are the Singer Futura or the Singerxl6000 depending on your budget. Both have programs that allow the machine to transfer a design from your computer to the machine itself. You will not have to buy a seperate program. There are TONS of free designs online to get you started, and you can always buy a digitizing program later if you choose to start actually making your own designs. Embird is a good program to start with when your ready to do that

There are several yahoo groups for both types of embroidery machines I mentioned and you will get great help there

What is the best website for buying personalised clothing online?

November 29th, 2012 2 comments

There are dozens of websites allowing you to create your own T-shirts and Hoodies etc. but they are generally quite expensive, charging around £10-£15 for sub-quality clothing. My cousin was telling me yesterday that there is an American based site which is outstanding and offers the best custom designs at really cheap prices. Do you know which one he could be referring to? I would ask him but he is away in Tenerife already!

We dont offer a web designer since every order is custom and unique. You can work with us directly on images you want custom made and we can go from there. Just let me know what you are looking for as far as color shirts, weight, style. Are you looking for Screen Print, Dye Sublimation or direct embroidery?

Visit our website and see what services we offer.

Do you have to pay ANYTHING on zazzle when you design?

November 27th, 2012 2 comments

If i make an account and start designing do i have to pay for anything? And how do i get paid?

I am a seller on Zazzle and there are no costs for starting a store and adding your designs to products or using Zazzle’s design tool. It is all free.

If you want to sell your uploaded designs on embroidery products, you are charged a conversion fee for each embroidery stitch file Zazzle has to create. If you have your own embroidery stitch files there is no fee. Regular text designs that you make with Zazzle’s text tool are free on embroidery too.

If you decide to sell on Zazzle, I suggest to visit the Zazzle community forums. There are a lot of fellow sellers including myself helping each other out. I’ll leave a link to it in the source area.

Are there any online custom shirt companies that print on the side of the shirt?

November 25th, 2012 1 comment

I am just looking a website where I can design a shirt, preferably a v-neck for men, that has something printed or screened on the side of the shirt towards the bottom. Thanks in advance.

Hey Shawn,

My name is Luke Collier and I’m the Director of Marketing for CSE Inc. Graphic Outfitters. We specialize in graphic design, screen printing, direct embroidery and a few other area’s.

What you are referring to is a shirt designer that a lot of these companies have. You wont find an interactive shirt designer that will allow you to place an image on the side of a shirt due to the fact that this is not a standard procedure when people order shirts. A lot of shirts you find in the stores with designs are pre-printed on materials prior to being cut. They are screen printed then cut to fit to shape/patch.

If you are seeking someone to make a custom shirt let me know. It sounds like that is what you are looking for. Your going to need a company who can manually lay your shirt on the side and screen print your image in the proper place.

feel free to look at our site to see what all we specialize in.

Give me a shout if interested.
