How to make my own applique fonts for my embroidery Machine?

December 13th, 2012 1 comment

My wife always pay for these applique and I want to know how to make some for her. She has a Husqvarna Viking Designer Topaz 20 and the 5D embroidery extra program.

I have a Topaz 30, new to me. I do not believe that it’s possible without knowing how to write the computer program that would be compatible with the 5D software. There is also likely "licensing" protection for the software by Husqvarna.

I find that many of the patterns for sale are very inexpensive for single patterns. Have you visited: Embroidery Library? Some patterns I’ve purchased for as little as $1. Once I purchased a few items, they began to send me sales items, free patterns etc.

I would like to start doing embroidery for infant clothing. Can someone guide me how to start?

Do I need to take classes for this? I saw someone had a computer program and from that it went to the machine. I just don’t know what I need to get other that an embroidery machine obviously. Do they come with computer programs? Thanks!

Two good machines to start with are the Singer Futura or the Singerxl6000 depending on your budget. Both have programs that allow the machine to transfer a design from your computer to the machine itself. You will not have to buy a seperate program. There are TONS of free designs online to get you started, and you can always buy a digitizing program later if you choose to start actually making your own designs. Embird is a good program to start with when your ready to do that

There are several yahoo groups for both types of embroidery machines I mentioned and you will get great help there

where can i buy or order a kit for a cross-stitch pattern from a photo i have?

i’d like it to be as cheap as possible– either a computer program i can download or buy, or a service where you send or e-mail your photo in and they provide you with the pattern and a list of all the thread-colors needed, etc. all the programs i’ve looked at online are expensive because you can use them for as many projects as you want. i just have one project i’d like to do, so i don’t want to pay for something i can use for all eternity. anybody heard of this or know where to find the service? also, anyone know the cheapest way/place to buy embroidery thread? thank you!

there is a free program called PC stitch you can dowload it and use the only thing that you cant do with it is save the project unless you buy the actual project.

as for buying threads for any projects browse around on google or any other search engine and see what it pulls up. also try looking on ebay you can get some great deals on there

I am doing a complex design and can’t seem to find which color thread that correspond with the numbers my embroidery machine is giving me even though I have looked through the manual and read. I will read it again. Model is Brother SE 270D. Meanwhile, Any ideas?

there is a computer program specifically for cross matching thread numbers. right now the site Designs by SiCK Embroidery Library
is running a good sale and doing a group buy for the program. go take a look it’s a great program if you want to use specific colors.

good luck,
