January 26th, 2013 4 comments

Hai,
I want to buy a embroidery machine . but not sure which brand / design no to buy. bcas i was learning from one of my friend to stitch chudidars ( in normal tailoring machine-singer) and hand embroidery . my husband is asking me to buy embroidery machine. will it be easy to follow the manuals if i buy those machine?????? can i see a video demo in any web-site for operating machine embroidering machines . so that i can be sure to buy which model & company. otherwise it will be waste to buy with out knowing how to operate. I am living in U.A.E.

plz write me ur suggestions , if possible the web-site names where i can learn online how to operate & learn to do the designs using machines…..Awaiting for all of ur replies………

I have a Singer Futura CE-200. It is my first embroidery machine and I am very pleased. It was low-cost, mainly because it does not have a computer on board. You hook it to your computer and it will stitch what is on the screen. It was very easy for me to learn, and the software will convert designs in many formats. This allows you to download a lot of free designs from the internet. The main disadvantage is the size of the hoops. The largest one has a stitch area of about 5" X 7". This means in large designs you have to re-hoop. Hope this helps.

Whats the best make/brand of sewing machine?

i do art-textiles at a-level and i do a lot of free machining/embroidery work , so will need it to have that feature plus the foot, also do normal machining, would like it to be quite straightforward, nothing tooo complicated
any suggestions would be great
thanks!!

I would suggest getting an older second hand machine, I do art and design A-level textiles and my all time favourite machines come from viking (also known as husqvarna). Bernina, the old ones i would say are the best for machine embroidery and last a lot longer, in one session without dying on you than the newer models :). I know quite a bit more about machines than most teenage girls doing textiles as my mum is a textiles teacher, from sweden where the teaching degrees for textiles require a lot more knowledge, also i have experience with both old and new viking machines, both great, an old bernina, especially used in our house for machine embroidery (all these three we have at home). and a Janome, a new one from school, which to be perfectly honest did not agree with me at all.

Does anyone have any recommendations for machine embroidery lettering software? EM, Alphabet Xpress? Thanks.?

I am interested in purchasing lettering software for my embroidery machine and wondered if anyone had any recommendations? I do not want to spend a lot of money.

I highly recommend Embird. You can buy it in portions. They not only have Font Engine which will auto digitize all true type fonts but also sell nice alphabets for 10-15.00 each in your machine format You would just need to get Embird Basic and the alphabets of your choice..- haven’t ck’d price lately but that is prob in ball park. If you are doing a lot of lettering and want a variety of fonts to work with though Font Engine would save you money over time..
Also have you thought of just going to some of the embroidery groups on Yahoo – like Hooked on Embroidery – there are many good digitizers on there that give away free sample designs and sell excellent designs for not much money. You can get alphabets there too.
Good Luck! Jill

can someone tell me what the best digitizing software for machine embroidery would be?

there are so many brands out there and i’m really confused. I don’t need too many ‘bells and whistles’. i would like to be able to have some control over how it works though. thanks for any suggestions.

A lot of the better software have demos which allow you to test it out before buying it. It’s best to test them out, and find out which one suits your needs the best.

Whatever file format they output to, there are several free programs that can convert between all the different formats, to upload to your machine. Wilcom TrueSizer does a great job opening and converting between almost 30 different formats.

I use Brother PE Design Pro, and think it’s OK. It’s not the most full-featured digitizing software, but it was a good deal with a Brother machine, and suits the simplified work I do.

The team that does advanced embroidery digitization swear by Wings’ Modular 2 with the CorelDRAW extensions. It’s quck and easy to input vector artwork for digitization.

Are there any online custom shirt companies that print on the side of the shirt?

November 25th, 2012 1 comment

I am just looking a website where I can design a shirt, preferably a v-neck for men, that has something printed or screened on the side of the shirt towards the bottom. Thanks in advance.

Hey Shawn,

My name is Luke Collier and I’m the Director of Marketing for CSE Inc. Graphic Outfitters. We specialize in graphic design, screen printing, direct embroidery and a few other area’s.

What you are referring to is a shirt designer that a lot of these companies have. You wont find an interactive shirt designer that will allow you to place an image on the side of a shirt due to the fact that this is not a standard procedure when people order shirts. A lot of shirts you find in the stores with designs are pre-printed on materials prior to being cut. They are screen printed then cut to fit to shape/patch.

If you are seeking someone to make a custom shirt let me know. It sounds like that is what you are looking for. Your going to need a company who can manually lay your shirt on the side and screen print your image in the proper place.

feel free to look at our site to see what all we specialize in.

Give me a shout if interested.

What type of accessories do I need with a new embroidery machine?

November 13th, 2012 3 comments

I am going to get a brother pe700II and I need to know what kind of things I need to get in addition to the machine. Do I need a speical backing when embroidering, etc. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

You will need stabilizer and depending on what you are embroidering on, will depend on the thickness and they type you will need.
a good pair of embroidery scissors, machine embroidery thread (this is different than normal thread) embroidery bobbin thread (again different than regular thread)
that should get you started, although i would invest in some cheap fabric or felt to do test stitching on because you will always want to test stitch designs, especially if they are free.
Go through your closet and find old clothing you don’t want or need any more and do some testing on those, or go to good will to get some cheap stuff to use.

there are several forums and yahoo groups you can join.
and you don’t have to join a brother specific group because a lot of the stuff is the same for any machine.
I have two brother 8200’s and a Happy commercial machine.
this is a very addicting hobby!
