what do you mean by software – are you learning computerized embroidery or hand embroidery?

How can i download free fonts for singer futura 150?

November 5th, 2012 1 comment

Im trying to find a website to download free fonts for singer futura 150. Anyone know some sites.

Not many fonts are free, but there are many designs available for downloading that may have a few and other for sale.

You need to know the format of your embroidery machine. If the designs do not come in the format you need, there is a free software program where you can convert to the format needed.

Set up a folder on the hard drive of your PC and name it embroidery downloads.

Select the designs you want to download – these are usually referred to as files.

Save to your embroidery folder.

Most downloads are zipped it will look like a file with a zipper. To unzip, mouse over the design file to highlight.

A mini screen will come onto the screen. Select open, unzip or extract.

This is the file you will be working with and the zipped file can be deleted.

If you need to convert the format, download Pulse Ambassador.

Open the file in PA and save in the format you need.

One of may sites – http://apexembdesigns.com/

You have to join this site (free) and then choose Download Designs from the tool bar. All the designs that have a download icon are free to everyone. All are free to those who are members of Ann’s Club. The designs are .pes format and may have to be converted to the format used by your embroidery machine. http://www.annthegran.com/

To search and review the thousands that are available, put free machine embroidery designs in the web search box at Yahoo or google.

I just got a Brother Computerized Sewing and Embroidery Machine, SE-400?

What are the best sites to download free embroidery graphics from?

Congratulations!

First, create a folder on either the pc’s hard drive, disk or flash drive for storing your downloads or you will have problems trying to locate them as you want to use them. Within the folder, create sub folders as the collection grows for easy access, such as infant, hearts, sports, flowers, etc.

If you decide to store on the hard drive, be sure to back-up on a flash drive by saving each time you add or make changes to the folder. This can be a life saver should the pc crash or otherwise lose all your hard work.

Downloads are usually zipped to save download time. These files have to be opened/extracted/unzipped before they can be used as the embroidery machine will not recognize the format. This is a good time to rename the files for easy recognition. If there is a file extension (.pes) be sure to add it to the rename. Example: yxrose123.pes could be renamed yellowrose.pes

Be sure to download files with a pes format and that are within the size of the machine’s embroidery stitch area.

For example – if the embroidery machine is designed for a 4" x 4" hoop, no matter how much larger a hoop that you may use, the machine is limited to the 4 x 4 and will not stitch out a larger design without editing software to split the design into smaller segments and additional re-hooping and re-positioning of the item being embroidered.

There are many sites for downloading free designs – beware of the foreign sites, especially Russian as they offer designs that are illegal US licensed designs.

If you do a search of free machine embroidery designs you can then choose the sites as you wish – just watch out for the foreign sites offering Disney and other licensed designs.

I use Ann The Gran – some are free for everyone and others are free to members of Ann’s Club, which requires a small membership fee. Membership also includes discounts on supplies and merchandise. http://www.annthegran.com

Embroidery Library as a few freebies, but they have the best overall tips, techniques and tutorials online. http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/elprojects/holder.aspx?page=techniques

http://www.sewforum.com has free designs and a great forum for learning, asking questions and overall information.

Brother has designs that can be downloaded, will be in the correct format and within the 4 x 4 hoop size/stitching area – http://www.brother-usa.com/HomeSewing/GetCreative/free-designs.aspx

Once you have your collection, you will not be able to view the actual design unless you have a software program. The least expensive on that I have found is Embrilliance Thumbnailer, available here – http://www.dzgns.com/shopping_cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1293 this site also has free downloads.

Enjoy and please email me if you have any additional questions.

Embroidery: how do i convert .ttf files to a .pes file?

November 21st, 2011 1 comment

I am new to embroidery and am looking for a pretty monogram font for our initial to put on kitchen towels…I can’t figure this out…trying to download a free one, but it’s in a .ttf file. My machine only recognizes .pes or .dst files. How can i convert this? Or, where can I find free downloads already in .pes format? Thanks!

Embroidery machines only recognize machine embroidery formats.

You will need machine embroidery digitizing software for what you are wanting to do. This software starts at about $1,000.

You can find many free embroidery downloads by googling "free machine embroidery designs".

Most will be either pes or they will offer pes as an option.

If you find something you really like in a format other that pes or dst, you can convert to pes with conversion software. Pulse Ambassador is one program that you can download and use and it is free. It has to be a machine embroidery format.

Google and they will come.

Does any one have website for FREE machine embroidery designs? I want to play a bit before I get serious.?

I have a new embroidery machine and am just learning. I don’t want to purchase designs until I know I can do them.

there are soooooooo many free embroidery designs out there that i doubt anyone can list all the sites. many digitizers give a sample of their work away to encourage you to purchase their designs. i’m going to list a couple of my favorites but all you have to do is a search for machine embroidery designs, i’m not sure i have ever found a site that doesn’t give away at least one freebie.

this digitizer is awesome. each week she puts 10 of her collections on sale for $3 each. she was one of the first. she also has free designs on some of her pages.
http://www.astitchahalf.com/

one of my favorite sites gives away 49 free designs a day and the membership to their site is very reasonable and well worth the money.

and here is a yahoo group you might want to join. they post where free designs are

good luck and have fun.

Where can i find free embroidery designs on the internet?

October 14th, 2011 1 comment

Preferably pes. Thanks a lot.

There are many listed on the Internet and they all come in pes. http://search.aol.com/aol/search?invocationType=tb50-ie-aol-newtab-en-us&query=free+machine+embroidery+designs

Make sure that you download is within the hoop size your machine accepts.

If you should find a design that you really love, but is not pes, there is a free software download that you can use to convert the file to pes. Pulse Ambassador is the software. How to use PA – http://www.annthegran.com/cs/forums/p/4745/17969.aspx

The only exception would be Bernina’s .art format which you may not be able converted.

Information Regarding Free Embroidery Designs J

July 31st, 2011 No comments

Free machine embroidery designs in a very simple term are designs usually done using a machine that can make a zigzag pattern and the embroiderer holds the embroidery hoop. The reason for the term “free” refers to the embroidery hoop being held by the free hand not the patterns cost.
With such kind of nature, free machine embroidery designs are said to be easy and fun to do. The simplicity of this type of stitch can be accomplished with an ordinary sewing machine so it takes the added expense of buying specialized embroidery machines out of the equation.

However, the free machine embroidery designs can’t be made professional in style and look if you are not adept to handling the embroidery hoop as freely as it should be. So if you think you are not yet capable of handling everything that is involved in the craft, pay some time practicing a lot for it. While practicing, know exactly what things you may need to prepare to create your free machine embroidery designs.

Information Regarding Free Machine Embroidery Designs

It’s amazing how often machine embroiderers search for free embroidery designs. At first glance, you may think that this is a great way to expand your design library and offset the price you paid for that high-priced embroidery machine. Free designs from the right sources are indeed a nice bonus but the bulk of these designs are poor quality and some may actually cost you dearly in legal fees. Find out what you need to know before you download or accept any free design!

What Are Free Embroidery Designs?
For purposes of this discussion, I’m talking about free designs you can download from the internet. Other “free” designs might be a special bundle you get with the purchase of a product. Most often these bundles consist of collections that are normally offered for sale but are added as a special bonus offer to entice you to buy. Free designs on the internet include a design that might be free this month only but then go to a regular price and designs that are perpetually free of cost.
