i got the hoops i use from coats crafts uk, when i worked there, the depth is just less than a centimeter, so they are quite shallow. they are just the basic wooden ones, don’t know if the spring loaded ones are narrower.

despite the sound problems, I think you did quite well in your explanation of this technique. I’ve never had the guts to attempt this and now I have an embroidery machine. But you never know… some day I might want a more hand made look.
Thank you so much for sharing.

    apologies again for …
apologies again for the sound quality, i don’t know where that ‘popping’ sound came from, husband thinks it’s feedback through the mic, as i was filming it myself, and sewing at the same time, i had to hold the camera quite close to the sewing machine. will use a tripod next time!
(note to husband – tripod, next birthday present maybe??)

    Thanks …
Thanks lucykatecrafts…. Your relaxed manner and way you deliver the instructions are great but the sound quality was really poor and I missed some parts where you talk. I got the jist though and I was particularly impressed with your multi tasking one hand embroidery other filming technique lol :o) Thanks !

    it’s just normal …
it’s just normal sewing thread, nothing special. you can use specialist threads for machine embroidery but for the demo, i just used my usual sewing threads.
