What historical romance book is this?

April 27th, 2012 2 comments

I’m pretty sure it took place in England and was published in the 1990s.

I only remember the name Miranda and she wasn’t the main character. I”ll cal the main character lady and the other main character man.

~summary~
Near the beginning of the book the lady (main character) is in Miranda’s room searching for something. She hears Miranda coming in so she hides in a tiny closet and is surprised to find a man (main character) there who is also looking for something.Miranda brought a guy with her and they start messing around on the best and the guy creams, and Miranda says something like "You ruined my good sheets! Get out!"
Not long after in the book the lady is walking up the stairs during a ball and starts to feel freaked out,so she goes to the man she hid with room and wakes him up and tells him. Then someone bangs on the bedroom door saying someone was killed. They both run up the stairs and there is a dead body in the lady’s room that she was supposed to find (may have been killed by Miranda). The killer got tierd of waiting for someone to find the body so they sent a maid up to the room with tea. Then everyone starts looking at the man and lady because she’s looking all proper while his clothes are all mussed up.The the man puts his arm around her and tells everyone that they’re engaged.Later Miranda will talk to her and tell her all about how much she enjoys the sight of a manly chest and the lady will say "I wouldn’t think someone of your social class would know of such things." and Miranda says "Don’t act like you’re an innocent virgin, everyone saw you two together."
Some time in the book a maid, who is engaged to another worker, almost gets raped by some guy and is screaming "I’m a good girl!" and the guy tells her "I’ll break you in for him"The lady comes up behind him and hits him in the head. And the two of them push him down the stairs to make it look like he fell (he survives).

Way later in the book she is staying somewhere else and is getting ready to leave for good and asks to take a small embroidery picture that was hanging in her room as a souviner. When she takes it down she finds a letter behind it.So she tracks down the person the letter is for and it’s an old lady. The old lady starts crying because she knows the woman who wrote the letter is probably dead or else she wouldn’t have hidden it.Then she goes to meet the man in the park so he can take her home. He’smad because he knows she is lying about where she went because she has mud on her shoes. In the back of the carriage they kiss and then quickly start having sex and he pulls out and creams on her leg and is glad to find out she was a virgin.

Later, they’re meeting Miranda and when they go into her house it very quiet and the library door is closed. They walk into the library and see Miranda has been shot and killed so they quickly leave. Not long after the meet with Miranda’s bodyguard in a park and he tells them who he suspects killed her. Then he starts to cry saying he was in love with her but she didn’t love him back. And she would get drunk and force him to have sex with sometimes on the stairs. The lady then hugs him and says "That was have been so painfull for you on the stairs."

And sometime during the books the lady gets a letter from her teenage sister in group home for young ladies saying that she woke up late at night and went downstairs for something to drink. She heard a grunting noise in the study and went in thinking someone was hurt. The owner of the group home and a well respected widower were haveing sex.And she says that it looked nothing like the books said it would be like and that she wants to leave.

Forbidden Love (Dell Historical Romance) book is an old fashion bodice ripper. I enjoyed it and it took me a day to read. Yes he is a totally Alpha male but she is strong and stands up to him. This is my favourite Karen Robards book. I think you will either love this book or hate it – no middle ground here!

greyhound embroidery designs

December 18th, 2011 4 comments

I am trying to embroider some greyhound designs on clothes for me and the rescue I volunteer with. Does anyone know of any web sites with free or inexpensive dowwnladable designs for machines?

Thanks!!

Granny grey hound’s website has designs she sells. you may want to contact her personally, since she uses the money to help rescue grey hounds as well.
http://www.gpamo.org/Merchandise/granny_greyhound_embroidery.htm

for 5.99 there are a group of designs to be downloaded here:

I wasn’t able to come across anything free, but hopefully you will be able to get some info on the greyhound granny site – there’s a discussion group associated with the site and they may be a good resource.

A while back I had a series of dreams so vivid I still remember, Any ideas of what they meant?

November 14th, 2011 2 comments

Okay there were 4 dreams I distinctly remember.. all had a ton of detail so I’ll only mention 2 for now.. What do you think they could mean?

Vampire bear.. I was in a run down house with clothes and old furniture and garbage all around. I was with two men who were hunters and they were hunting bears in the house. The bears were upstairs and kept coming down. One small bear came down and then ran back up but then another bear came and it was big and for some reason it wanted me. It kept trying to sneak up on me and get me, and the men were using me as bait to attract it. I kept using a chair to block it from getting me and I was trying to convince the guys to get out of there. But they wanted to get that one bear.. it kept coming up and smelling me and it was just disturbing because in the dream I felt there was something wrong with that particular bear. So finally I convinced the guys to leave, we left and went up to this cabin that had a bunch of people there and we all sat around and were talking and having a few drinks. I was sitting at this kind of bar, but it was just an island like in a kitchen. I could see from outside myself and was seeing myself sitting there.. when all of a sudden the big bear stood up behind me and turned into a vampire, it grabbed my head and bit my neck. Then broke my neck and turned back into a bear.. this guy grabbed me and was freaking out because I was half dead and flopping around in his arms then the bear grabbed my hand and bit off my fingers and ate them.. It was intense because I could feel it and see it happening to me..

Sacrificial rite.. In this dream I was part of some religious group, I was raised in it but didn’t believe it. We were preparing for a ritual where young girls were sacrificed and I was angry because the richer members paid to keep their daughters from being chosen for sacrifice. We had been chosen unfairly, there was I think 7 girls to be sacrificed. We had to prepare by choosing what we were to wear. There were robes either green or white with gold embroidery, and sashes the same but you wore the contrasting colour. There were staffs like shepherds crooks all embossed with gold swirls and a paisley types design but not quite. Then there were these white cloth things that you put over your hair underneath the robes hood. In the dream I had a plan to stop this sacrifice once and for all. I decided to volunteer to be first and I hid a big knife(one I really have) under my robe. There was a man that hypnotized you with a gold watch and then a priest who would slit your throat. So I went on the platform and he started trying to hypnotize me but I just pretended, then when he thought I was out of it I took out my knife and attacked both of them. Everyone in the church started freaking out and I chased them all out and cut them down if they were in my way. I felt justified I felt free I felt sick at the pain I was causing, even though I was using the flat of the blade on most ppl. But in the dream I knew it was right because it saved us. The weird part of the dream was the feeling that I was always like that, that I always challenged things, that it was my nature to fight against things I did not agree with and to rebel.

The bears represent situations or people at the time that were a threat to you, were actually hurting you, were acting like destructive vampires to you. The hunters were supposed to be people who were helping you, but it turns out the help was using you, and you got hurt.

The religious thing is about all those areas of life like, religion, politicans, parents, teachers, corporations who all want you to sacrifice yourself for their cause or product. It is about your fight for individuality against the forces of conformity and control. You are successful in your battles.

Information Regarding Secrets Of Embroidery

August 21st, 2011 No comments

Shadow embroidery is a technique that creates mysterious shadow effect on the stitched cloth. It is also known as a Whitework technique. Shadow embroidery is done on dress accessories, children’s clothes, lingerie and household linens.

The procedure of making shadow embroidery may sound confusing for the first time, but actually it is extremely easy-to-make. The stitch is worked on sheer, transparent or firmly woven threads. For the ground fabric you may choose whatever you like: viole, batiste, fine linen or muslin, synthetic or sheer silk and so on. Ready made clothes can also be embroidered with the shadow effect stitches. There are few things you have to learn about shadow embroidery. Work double back stitch on the right side of the fabric.
