How can I establish myself when I am selling embroidery floss bracelets and accessories?

June 1st, 2012 1 comment

I make embroidery floss bracelets/ accessories in several designs. How can I tell people that I am selling these for a cheap price? And also, knowing myself, being a passive person.. how can I let people know that they are strictly for sale, not for free, due to profit? Please give me your advice. Thanks, Sky.

hello there!
i am also trying to get into the jewelry business as well.
I have some success with selling earrings, bracelets and even cell phone charms! I actualy even fix jewelry as well.

Never allow yourself to downgrade or cheapen your product -so dont say you are selling ur stuff for a cheap price. be careful with your words because they count since they are your marketing tools. Use affordable or economical.
depending on your going about selling ur items, I would inform the person that flat out
you are selling x item for this amount. don’t be shy it is your product and u have a right to be paid for your materials and design time and labor.
you could a special deal if the person purchase 2 items.
look at etsy.com and in their community boards they have great information about owning your own handcrafted business! good luck!

where can I find free jewish embroidery or cross stitch designs / patterns? thanks so much in advance!?

I too am looking for some embroidery to do! I found this site that has many links to other sites that have all kinds of needlepoint, sew ect ect and crafting that deal woth the Jewish arts.

http://www.craftyneedle.com/level.itml/icOid/3382

The other one that I would suggest is Ann the Gran.

www.annthegran.com/

There was a section that had religious symbols on it and there were a few good one for the Jewish faith.

If you are feeling very creative, you can make your patterns and go from there. (that is what I am doing at the moment.)

I hope that this helps! Good Luck!

How do you get started digitizing free standing lace for machine embroidery?

January 9th, 2012 1 comment

I have a janome machine and want to create my own lace design. I really want to do my own. Does anyone use Embird or some other program? How hard is it to do?

I use the Digitizer10000 software that Janome sells. I know you can do some digitizing with Embird, but I don’t know how.
The steps I take in D10K are:
1. Scan the design (I draw out my designs first)
2. First layer is straight line embroidery, no satin stitch. This keeps the design in place. This is done in color 1.
3. Satin stitch the design over the straight lines. Do this in color 2.
4. Satin stitch again, with a stitch slight wider than before, starting and stopping in different places. Do this in color 3.
5. Finally, satin stitch one more time right over #4 (color3). Do this in color 4.
6. Stitch it out and fine tune as needed.
I use the different colors so I can tell which layer needs adjusting. I have made some where the stitches in the satin lines get closer (tighter) with each layer. For testing purposes, I keep the different colors and stitch out using netting between Solvy. I have found that if my design is weak and needs a lot of help that the netting keeps it all together – very important the first test stitch!
From there, I tweak the design as needed. Once I like how it stitches out, I change all the colors to one so the machine doesn’t stop between layers anymore. I save multiple copies as I work.
Laces can be time consuming to digitize. I have created two small lace pieces but I prefer to purchase the designs.
Good luck!

Again, that program is called Digitizer10000. Sold by Janome dealers. There is a new version, DigitizerPro that has some wonderful features, including the ability to digitize any TrueType font you have on your computer. Cool! And it can digitize photos, too. Still one color, but my local dealer said the programmers are working on color!

Where can I find absolutely free pes downloadable embroidery patterns for doll faces?

October 31st, 2011 1 comment

I have a Brother embroidery machine and I am trying to make my grandaughters cloth dolls for Christmas. I need to find a site to download a free pattern for a doll face in pes format or find someone who is willing to share one.

http://www.sewn4youdesigns.com/index.html

I know they have PES as I have downloaded these doll faces in that format..

go to the freebies page (I believe there are a few pages of freebies) and there is a few doll faces..many embroidery forums and yahoo groups have lots of freebies..your best bet is to join embroidery forums where people share a wealth of valuable information and who digitize designs too. hope this helps…
I belong to a few very good embroidery forums and have learned a great deal from them..Good Luck with your dolls..

Does any one have website for FREE machine embroidery designs? I want to play a bit before I get serious.?

October 31st, 2011 3 comments

I have a new embroidery machine and am just learning. I don’t want to purchase designs until I know I can do them.

there are soooooooo many free embroidery designs out there that i doubt anyone can list all the sites. many digitizers give a sample of their work away to encourage you to purchase their designs. i’m going to list a couple of my favorites but all you have to do is a search for machine embroidery designs, i’m not sure i have ever found a site that doesn’t give away at least one freebie.

this digitizer is awesome. each week she puts 10 of her collections on sale for $3 each. she was one of the first. she also has free designs on some of her pages.
http://www.astitchahalf.com/

one of my favorite sites gives away 49 free designs a day and the membership to their site is very reasonable and well worth the money.

and here is a yahoo group you might want to join. they post where free designs are

good luck and have fun.
if you have other questions please feel free to e-mail me from my profile.

Is there anyplace to download free viking sewing machine embroidery patterns or patterns with a vsp format?

October 17th, 2011 2 comments

If not is there a way to convert other formats to vsp format?

Husquvarna web site has a monthly free design as well as archives. I have the 4D program and it converts everything. Some of the web sites offer free downloads to convert patterns. You can buy the 3D program much cheaper on Ebay than it was now that 4D has come out.
