I am trying to learn to make iron on transfers?

December 9th, 2012 2 comments

I want to make them like the old Vogart embroidery transfers not using the paper which seems to be the only option I can find–when you buy them they are done on copy paper with black ink and you just iron on the outline and then can embroider on tea towels or muslin. Does anyone know how to do this without drawing with a transfer pen or pencil????

Couldn’t you just print the outline(s) of the images you want onto transfer paper, then transfer only that to the fabric/etc?
You could get the outlines by tracing over an image just using outlines, then scan that into your computer to print out as transfers.
Or you could use some of the "cartoonizers"** and other special effects filters available online or in various photo-editing software to create simplified lines from your image (some will automatically remove any color, or turn them into bw in a separate step).

Or often you can just iron (use heat and pressure) to transfer *toner* based inks from photocopiers or laser printers, bw or color, onto fabrics or other paper though they won’t be as dark a line as using a better transfer method. You could go over the lines though with a pigment pen if you wanted the dark lines separating your colors.

You could also just trace the main lines of something yourself directly onto fabric by placing the original image on a lightbox or window-during-daylight, then placing the fabric on top and tracing the lines you should be able to see.

You can also print directly onto fabric by taping the leading edge of a small piece of the fabric onto a sheet of paper or cardstock, then running through your printer… or you can buy special materials at fabric or quilt stores to do that (with instructions).

**Some of the free "sketch" or "cartoonize" functions online are at places like these:

BeFunky-fy Your Blog With BeFunky Free Graphics!

Photobucket allows you to do similar and even more things with your images (use the Edit function), and Flickr probably has something similar.

Which embroidery softwares are compatible with the Brother PE 700 II sewing machine.?

December 7th, 2012 1 comment

Hello! I Need some help. My girlfriend’s mom has a Brother PE 700 II machine. Which of these programs like Wilcom ES, Tajima DGML or Melco Design Studio are compatible with that machine? Or, does the PE Design the only one that work ? Thanks.

You can actually use any software that you like, personally I use Fancy Works Studio. What you will need is PED-Basic. The PED-Basic will allow the designs to be put on a memory card to be used with the machine. Personally if i were going to invest in another software program it would be embird. www.embird.com you can try it before you buy it and with the add ons you can purchase seperately it is wonderful for anything you would want to do. it really depends on what your girlfriends mom wants to do with the software. if she just wants to get designs from the internet to her machine and maybe resize or change the design a little that can be done with PED-Basic. PED=Basic can be found on e-bay for about $100.00.
if you have any other questions please feel free to e-mail me.
my favorite embroidery website is <a href="http://www.designsbysick.com/amember/go.php?r=5647&i=l0">Designs by SiCK Embroidery Library</a>
they have an awesome site with great designs.

good luck,

can someone tell me what the best digitizing software for machine embroidery would be?

December 5th, 2012 2 comments

there are so many brands out there and i’m really confused. I don’t need too many ‘bells and whistles’. i would like to be able to have some control over how it works though. thanks for any suggestions.

A lot of the better software have demos which allow you to test it out before buying it. It’s best to test them out, and find out which one suits your needs the best.

Whatever file format they output to, there are several free programs that can convert between all the different formats, to upload to your machine. Wilcom TrueSizer does a great job opening and converting between almost 30 different formats.

I use Brother PE Design Pro, and think it’s OK. It’s not the most full-featured digitizing software, but it was a good deal with a Brother machine, and suits the simplified work I do.

The team that does advanced embroidery digitization swear by Wings’ Modular 2 with the CorelDRAW extensions. It’s quck and easy to input vector artwork for digitization.

How do I create embroidery designs without the use of a digitizer program?

December 3rd, 2012 5 comments

You cannot create original embroidery for a machine embroidery machine without using digitizing software. That being said, you can get digitizing software for anywhere from $99 to thousands of dollars. There are also TONS of free designs available. Just do a search for "free machine embroidery." The learning curve for digitizing software is quite high. I have found just about any kind of design that I want already made, and I’m not into digitizing. HTH

How do I change the file language from PCS file to PES file for my sewing machine?

November 29th, 2012 2 comments

What types of programmes are out there and which is the best to buy? Is this what Buzz tool does?

Buzz Tools has more than one software program.

There is a free software download that I have used many times for conversion of machine embroidery formats.

For your embroidery machine, you can convert a PCS design to PES or any other format (except ART) by using Pulse Ambassador.

Open the design you want to convert and then and SAVE as "name of design" and choose the format, PES.

Laser embroidery software demo for cutting patches, crests and badges direct to garment or bulk

November 29th, 2012 1 comment

Permaboss did not come from an embroidery background we started out avoiding it completely and launched embossing and rhinestones in North America in 1999. We always had to deal with poor quality artwork and especially vectorization, cleaning up, inline, outline, offset, registration, centering spacing etc. We have always felt restricted with traditional software like adobe illustrator, Photoshop and Corel. All are complex software that are 100% best suited for print media and graphics BUT NOT for things related to machinery where you can’t afford to have vectors crossing over each other and ones that move weird when you manipulate a node.
So because of this we took an entirely different route of thinking and every time an embroidery digitizer sees it they get nuts- in a good way, they can’t for the life of them realize just how fast we can vectorize and clean up artwork and create vectors for embroidery, embossing or rhinestoneing (is that a word?? ) !
The software is called RhinestoneWorx, its a Permaboss product and its included with every laser. Its 100% vista and XP friendly and has tools that $18,000 embroidery digitizing packages don’t have or offer and its included with every laser or costs less than 10% of the above mentioned competitors software when purchased alone. It includes a detailed training DVD and 1 hour personal advanced tutorials. You can purchase support but its not needed because its just not as confusing as your other digitizing and art programs!
Plus this software is not a memory and resources pig on your PC like some programs are. They are huge, take long to install and to startup and god help you when you change anything on your PC, not RhinestoneWorx.
In this video, you will see the NGL or Next Generation Laser from Permaboss cut patches and crests. With the forest services ones we just cut the crest itself out of the backing material. For the fire department one we pretend its on a real garment and show you how and when to use foil. Then when the foil is removed, we proceed to cut it out totally as well.
The point is that the NGL laser revolutionizes embroidery totally by allowing you to offer so many new decorations in combination with your existing embroidery machines!
Stay tuned or subscribe to this YouTube channel as we are adding more videos all the time. We will soon show how we can cut out the patch that has a satin stitch on the outside border instead of nothing!
So in summary, its fast and far more accurate than by hand! For more information visit www.permabosslaser.com or call +1-905-713-6514

How do you digitalize embrodiery patterns?

November 27th, 2012 2 comments

I know you can make your on embrodiery patterns and sell them. How do you start this?

You need to have embroidery design software. Many sewing machine companies have their own program that they sell, but most sewing/embroidery machines can use more than one format.

You can buy something simple, like Embird, or spend thousands for a professional-type program. You also need to have a machine so that you can stitch out the designs to test them. Most designers aren’t real good for awhile and give away their designs for free to get people to know them. Some designers have a web site and sell their designs and also have some freebies that you can try to see how good the designer is.

Have fun with it!

Where can I get software for my ebroidery machiene?

November 25th, 2012 1 comment

I am looking for a digitizing software where I can create my own designs but that can also import picture to make them compatable with my embroidery machiene.

Without knowing what your embroidery machine expects as its input its a bit difficult to offer any suggestions. However…

Digitizing usually means using a scanner or pen input system, both usually come with their own drivers. Any decent graphics editor will usually then ber able to interface with the scanner/tablet.

A decent graphics editor will also support multiple file formats. If the embroidery machine uses a standard graphics format (BMP, TIF, JPG, GIF etc) then a decent editor will probably support it.

The GIMP is a free graphics editor that I would suggest as your first choice.

I’m looking for an embroidery machine that will allow you to upload your own designs to it, under 1k, ideas?

I would like to personalize blankets and other clothing items but have my own ideas of the pattern I would like to put on them, I have been looking at some Brother and Singer machines, but don’t know which has the friendliest software for creating your own designs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Check the Brother machines My mom got one over the net with free shipping for a little over $800 – She LOVES it!!!
