Where can I get software for my ebroidery machiene?

November 25th, 2012 1 comment

I am looking for a digitizing software where I can create my own designs but that can also import picture to make them compatable with my embroidery machiene.

Without knowing what your embroidery machine expects as its input its a bit difficult to offer any suggestions. However…

Digitizing usually means using a scanner or pen input system, both usually come with their own drivers. Any decent graphics editor will usually then ber able to interface with the scanner/tablet.

A decent graphics editor will also support multiple file formats. If the embroidery machine uses a standard graphics format (BMP, TIF, JPG, GIF etc) then a decent editor will probably support it.

The GIMP is a free graphics editor that I would suggest as your first choice.

Where can I find a program (Mac compatible) that allows me to use my computer fonts as embroidery designs?

I basically am looking to use the fonts I have on my computer to create embroidered names, monograms, etc…

Is this machine embroidery? Or are you sending it to a commercial company? If its a commercial company, they can tell you what format they’ll accept. Usually its eps format and you can use something like PhotoShop or PaintShopPro, or a free program like Gimp (I think it works on Macs)

If this is for hand embroidery, you can use your word processor to make the letters big and print them on good graph paper. (this is what I do).

If this is your sewing machine and you want to convert the fonts to something it can use, check the manufacturers website and see if they have a conversion software.

If you are trying to create a stencil. Gimp is a good free software that is easy to use.

You can get a picture and turn it into a grey scale.
