How do I download images from the internet into my Janome Memory Craft (MC) 200E embroidery machine?

November 17th, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

I bought the USB flash drive and when I download files off the internet, it says it can’t work (or something.) Is there a step I’m missing in order to get my machine to recognize the files?

what is the extension on the file? most embroidery designs are in zip format when you download them. the file format you need is either sew or jef, i’m not sure because i haven’t worked with a janome machine for awhile. you need to unzip the file before you use it. here are a few embroidery groups i belong to. the people on them are great and you will get so much information from them.

here is my favorite site for embroidery designs. they give away 49 free designs a day and are running a sale on their site right now.

Regular images like jpeg or bmp will not going into your embroidery machine without you or someone else digitizing them. That requires special software that takes a picture and makes it understandable by an embroidery machine. There are literally thousands of free embroidery designs out there on the internet but regular pictures will not go into your machine. There are groups on yahoo (hundreds of them) for machine embroidery. You might do some looking around for Janome ones. If you join one or more them, you will learn lots. I don’t have a Janome machine but have a Brother and a Babylock.

Here are a few that I found by searching yahoo groups for Janome.

You have a MemoryCraft 300E machine. Your machine uses the .JEF format to stitch. In order for images from the internet to make it to your machine, the images first have to be digitized by a digitizer, such as myself.

Then the file is saved to the USB Flash card and uploaded by the same to your Memorycraft 300E for stitching. The digitizing process is what you are missing. This is specialized software that is pricey. I use Janome Digitizer Pro software and it costs ranges from $1,000.00 to $1600.00 depending upon the Janome dealer and current sales.

I can help you with any images you would like to have for stitching provided these images are not copyrighted images. If you can tell me what you are looking for (image wise) to stitch, I am an illustrator and can create an image for you that will only be copyrighted back to me.

    I hope this explanation helps!

Yes, you need to put your flash drive in the machine First and let the machine recognize (format) the flash drive.
Then, you download your files from the internet.
It should recognize the flash drive then. Touch the usb, then EMBF on the screen. Your files should then open and you can choose by touching the picture.

I hope this works for you. I couldn’t get my flash drive to work either (got my machine Fri before Christmas). Finally, I emailed the Janome technical support and they emailed me how to do it.
With the MC200E you shouldn’t need the software. If you want to view the pictures of the files while on the internet, you may need something. You may can use your Adobe Photo
software. Try this before buying any expensive software. That is the beauty of this new 200E with the USB port.
Hope this helps. If it doesn’t or you have anymore questions, email me and we can learn together. I will be happy to send the email the tech sent me.
