How do you digitize embroidery?

6

I have a Brothers embroidery machine, and im trying to figure out how to digitize images. I have no idea where to start, which program do i need? where do i get it from? Is there a easy to read manual for digitizing? im not experienced, any help will be great!

digitizing takes alot of work to learn. there are many yahoo groups devoted to machine embroidery. embird is a very good program and many people use it. they do give you a 30 free trial period so you can try it before you buy it. the site is www.embird.com
i have the pe-design version 4 which is the software specifically for the brother machine. it is expensive but will do alot. i also have fancyworks studio by pantograms. i really wish i would have upgraded my embird instead of purchasing fancyworks.
i would sugest joining some yahoo groups about machine embroidery and reading there before you purchase the software.
do you have a way to transfer embroidery designs from the internet to your machine? the ped-basic is an inexpensive program that will let you use designs you purchase or get free from the internet.

i wanted to share a couple of my favorite sites with you.

There are a lot of digitizing programs out there that range in cost. Here's a link to a page with a lot of good information. http://www.artisticthreadworks.com/public/843.cfm . I agree with the writer — embird studio is a good place to start. Digitizing a good quality design is not easy — I use my software basically to do cross stitch patterns, but for the important stuff, I buy my designs from emblibrary.com — they have a good array of designs for excellent prices.

Digitizing software can be very expensive. No matter what software you choose I would suggest trying before you buy it. I use Embird Studio and really like it, but I also purchased a tablet computer to use with it, so that is probably why I enjoy it so much. It is great to use the pen on the tablet and see the stitches form before your eyes!

You need to understand the principles and mechanics of computers as well as how the embroidery machine "thinks" in order to turn out a good design. There are many embroidery yahoo groups that give out great free designs who will also help you with any digitizing questions you might have. This is a Canadian group I particularly enjoy and find to be friendly and helpful…. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dcdesigns/

Hi
I have the Brother Innovis 700E embroidery machine and the dealer that I bought it from had the latest PE Design ver 7 on display . I was totally inexperienced in the art of Machine embroidery but found that PE ver 7 does it all and does it well and is extremely easy to use, it is a windows based program. The shop you bought your machine from should have a demo model of the program to show you .

There are so many digitizing software. I have Digitizer Pro from Janome. I own Janome MB-4. I be digitizing free hand and clip art manually. I do not use auto. I just don't like it, by the time I make change, I'm done do it my self. You have to have Passions. No rush, and go step by step.
