I need software to turn pictures to embroidery designs?

May 17th, 2012 1 comment

I have some pictures for a sewing project and i need them embroidered i have a brother pe400 sewing/embroidery machine. I’m looking for some software to simply change pictures to stitches. would prefer free, but I am willing to pay for it. I have to computers, a windows and mac.

The software you need to be compatible with a sewing machine so specific should have been included when you purchased it. If you do not have the software already you can download it from the brother website. Hopefully this works for you!

Cheers!

Designing by Thread with Terry White – Cherry Rug Part 1

Make a miniature rug on the sewing machine with thread painting which mimics Russian needlepunch. Variegated threads give a lovely blended look similar to wool hooked rugs. The threads used are YLI cotton machine quilting threads. Part 1

How do you get started digitizing free standing lace for machine embroidery?

January 9th, 2012 1 comment

I have a janome machine and want to create my own lace design. I really want to do my own. Does anyone use Embird or some other program? How hard is it to do?

I use the Digitizer10000 software that Janome sells. I know you can do some digitizing with Embird, but I don’t know how.
The steps I take in D10K are:
1. Scan the design (I draw out my designs first)
2. First layer is straight line embroidery, no satin stitch. This keeps the design in place. This is done in color 1.
3. Satin stitch the design over the straight lines. Do this in color 2.
4. Satin stitch again, with a stitch slight wider than before, starting and stopping in different places. Do this in color 3.
5. Finally, satin stitch one more time right over #4 (color3). Do this in color 4.
6. Stitch it out and fine tune as needed.
I use the different colors so I can tell which layer needs adjusting. I have made some where the stitches in the satin lines get closer (tighter) with each layer. For testing purposes, I keep the different colors and stitch out using netting between Solvy. I have found that if my design is weak and needs a lot of help that the netting keeps it all together – very important the first test stitch!
From there, I tweak the design as needed. Once I like how it stitches out, I change all the colors to one so the machine doesn’t stop between layers anymore. I save multiple copies as I work.
Laces can be time consuming to digitize. I have created two small lace pieces but I prefer to purchase the designs.
Good luck!

Again, that program is called Digitizer10000. Sold by Janome dealers. There is a new version, DigitizerPro that has some wonderful features, including the ability to digitize any TrueType font you have on your computer. Cool! And it can digitize photos, too. Still one color, but my local dealer said the programmers are working on color!

Does singer sewing machine(model:Inspiration)has a darning presser foot&option to lower feed dogs? ?

December 28th, 2011 2 comments

I want2do free motion embroidery using a embroidery hoop,so tht i can make my own designs.Pls advise as i want2buy a machine.

The 4220 does have droppable feed dogs, I’m not sure about others also bearing the "inspiration" tag. Check the features for the exact model you’re interested in. Generic low shank or snap on darning feet are easily available.

Doesn’t really matter, though, as you can set the stitch length to 0 on any sewing machine and cover the feed dogs with something like an old credit card that you’ve punched a hole through for the needle, then taped down around all edges. Sometime when you’re at the library, look for "Singer Instructions for Art Embroidery and Lace Work", first published in 1911, and republished a number of times since — the work was all done on a treadle machine, with non-droppable feed dogs. http://thesewbox.blogspot.com/2009/01/singer-instructions-for-art-embroidery.html

embroidery machine ?

December 25th, 2011 3 comments

i just bought an embroidery machine and i have lots to learn. the company gave me some designs for free on my card. i know how to use them in the machine but i want to know how to save them to another source (i.e. my computer) so that i can load new info onto the card.
also, where can i get a good deal on more cards so i can have some back-up?
i have a babylock ellure.
i also bought the transfer system.

Unless the card is a re-writeable one, you may not be able to do anything with it.

If you bought your embroidery machine from a store, you could ask them for a discount on new cards or a gadget called "ultimate box" which lets you bypass the card..

greyhound embroidery designs

December 18th, 2011 4 comments

I am trying to embroider some greyhound designs on clothes for me and the rescue I volunteer with. Does anyone know of any web sites with free or inexpensive dowwnladable designs for machines?

Thanks!!

Granny grey hound’s website has designs she sells. you may want to contact her personally, since she uses the money to help rescue grey hounds as well.
http://www.gpamo.org/Merchandise/granny_greyhound_embroidery.htm

for 5.99 there are a group of designs to be downloaded here:
http://www.debsews.net/files/index.html

I wasn’t able to come across anything free, but hopefully you will be able to get some info on the greyhound granny site – there’s a discussion group associated with the site and they may be a good resource.
