How do you embroider by hand?

November 11th, 2012 2 comments

I have seen websites that show how to do stitches, but how do I make an entire design? For example, my cousin used a machine to embroider initials and it was beautiful, but my grandmother insisted she could do better "in her day" by hand…however she has arthritis and can no longer do it, let alone teach me. Also, I live in a small area, there aren’t classes to take so that isn’t reasonable. Any basic suggestions or instructions would be lovely 🙂

Begin with small things with larger stitches.

The major forms of hand-embroidery can be grouped into free-style and counted-thread.

Counted thread is done on relatively coarse fabric (ideally with the equal warp & woof counts). It can be done from charts or designs may be applied directly to the fabric and counted-stitching used for the design. One very simple method of beginning to learn this is to use a pale gingham check for an easy-to-see grid (no smaller than 5 squares/inch for learning). Shirt to other fabrics and finer counts with experience. I done counted work on handkerchief linen when I need to do so.

Ask for the assistance of the Reference Librarian at your library. There may be helpful instructional manuals there for free-style embroidery. If ILL (Inter-Library Loan) is available, the world’s at your fingertips. There’s also the Internet. Search [embroidery how-to] or [embroidery instructions stitches] etc.

How much do I pay a designer to design Tshirt Graphics for me?

November 9th, 2012 3 comments

I am starting a clothing store and need designer to design the clothings. I’m too busy to design it myself. I know what I want but do I charge by hour or per design?

Thanks

I think per design basis is the best solution for you. The reason why I say this is that when you say you don’t have much time on your hands, you won’t be able to keep check on the hours put in by the designer in your designs and you might as well end up paying for something extra – and not getting any value for it. On the other hand, once you’ve made a deal with the designer on a specific, per-project, or per-design basis, you’ll be free from the trouble of keeping check on the designer’s hours. Hence, it is always better to cut a deal with designers on a per design basic. On another note, you might as well want to check out our work for any designing needs you have. Please email your requirements to: shabbir.terai@gmail.com and we’ll make sure you get the right designs in the right price!

Lastly, if you ever are in need of bulk orders with custom printed designs, you can check out www.lovethoseshirts.com – these guys are a real pro and experience in screen and embroidery designing.

What type of embroidery machine?

November 5th, 2012 2 comments

I want to get an embroidery machine that I can just put in what I want to embroider onto something and then let it go. I do not want to free hand embroider. Can someone help me, because I am unsure on which one to buy?

Any brand. However, Brother is the most user and software friendly.

Putting "something in" depends on what you mean.

Embroidery machines can only read machine embroidery formats.

There are many machine embroidery designs you can download from the Internet – some you purchase and some are free.

There will be some designs already built-into the embroidery machine, including alpha/numerical fonts.

Downloads or CDs have to be loaded on the PC. Then transferred to the embroidery machine.

How you get the design to the embroidery machine will depend on the capabilities of the machine.

Some use a machine embroidery formatted memory card – this type of machine will require a reader/writer unit and rewritable memory card for the brand and format of the machine.

Some use UBS port B direct connect cable. The cable comes with the machine and has to be connected to the PC for sending the design to the machine.

The best models have USB port A. You transfer the design to a flash stick and then insert it into the embroidery machine.

If you want to embroider your own art or clip art, you will need machine embroidery digitizing software and this starts at about $700.

Expect to spend at least $800. Plus another $50 or so for thread and stabilizer.

How to transfer embroidery pattern to fabric???

What is the easiest and the best way to transfer embroidery
patterns to your fabric?

Hi:

Here are four ways I know of :

1. Scan and print it to a piece of Iron-on T- shirt Transfer paper. Following the directions on the Transfer paper. Using a hot steam iron transfer the design to the fabric and peel the backing off being careful to not pull the design off it – A Note of Caution : Do this with only Cotton or Linen Cloth – (Do not use rayon or synthetics they will burn or melt ; if you try this method with them)

2) Scan and print a copy of it on a sheet of paper secure it on the fabric with quilting or dress pins as long as it there are not on the pattern lines Than start cross stitching from the center of the pattern working you way out toward the outside of the drawing pattern when your done cross stitching Than wash the pattern to remove the paper- this is the easy way I know how to do this without doing # 1. above.

3. Draw a grid on both the pattern and the fabric – make sure the grids are identical except that they are proportionally larger or smaller depending on the design. Then draw your picture on the fabric until it look like what on the pattern grid only the fabric drawing of it will be proportionally larger or smaller

4. Do a free hand the drawing on the fabric if your design is simple or use tracing paper to trace out the key design elements Number it – put some marks or lines so you can originate your pattern pieces with one other. Secure it on the fabric with quilting or dress pins. Do your cross stitching over it .Or you can transfer your drawing from the patterns on the tracing paper with a fabric pen or pencil. (Be careful with fabric marker pens – you can not ease them as easily as you can pencil marks). putting your orgination marks on so you can match the other pattern pieces with it and draw them in as well – remove your pattern pieces when your done drawing it. Do your cross stitching on it. and your done

Hope this helps
