How to Embroider an Applique Design by Sew With Lisa B

January 27th, 2012 8 comments

Demonstration – “How to Machine Embroider an Applique design” by Children’s Embroidery Designer Lisa B. from SewWithLisaB.com Applique embroidery uses a combination of fabric and fill embroidery. You will need an embroidery machine, the fabric you wish to applique upon secured in a hoop, the threads, a pair of scissors and the fabric for the applique design. Download the digitized applique design to the embroidery machine and attach the hoop. Stitch the outline of the design. Place the fabric over the applique design outline and stitch the tack down stitch. Next, remove the hoop from the embroidery machine and trim off my excess fabric. I recommend using a pair of curved scissors to allow you to trim close to the thread without cutting it. Remember, never remove the fabric from the hoop until you are done, as this will affect the alignment of the applique design. Next, stitch final tack down stitch. Finish the design by stitching the fill embroidery portion. Change fill colors and stitch out the eye of the pig. When the sewing of the design is complete, remove the fabric from the hoop and trim the excess threads. The applique design is complete. For more visit SewWithLisaB.com

Free embroidery website?

January 25th, 2012 2 comments

I love the website www.embroideryisfree.com It offers a free design every 12 minutes. I have no problem downloading the current design but when I open the older designs there is no place to click to download. How can I download the older ones? I can’t stay on the computer 24/7 to catch the new one ever 12 minutes.
Thanks!!!

Based on the input boxes for signing in, that looks like a membership site. You can get 5 free designs when you sign up for the newsletter, but it does not say whether you get to choose the designs or not.

Perhaps if you don’t grab the design during the 12 minutes of free download, you can *pay* for designs as a member?

Anyone know where I can find some websites with free cross stitch embroidery patterns, transfers, or designs?

I plan on making gifts this year for Christmas, including some cross stitch emboidery. But I am having trouble finding some free patterns. I do not want the counted cross stitch patterns…just the emboidery patterns with the X’s. Does anyone know any websites to search through in order to find some patterns? I’m not really looking for anything in particular. I’ll just know it when I see it.

Go to www.freepatterns.com. They have all kinds of great patterns. You do have to be a member to download them.

This website http://www.embroidery-methods.com/cross-stitch-pattern-maker.html explains how to make your own cross stitch embroidery chart using a photo editing program such as Adobe Photoshop. You don’t need a plug-in, just the knowledge about how to use the program to pixilate and posterize.

Have an embroidery machine, want info on how to put my own ideas onto garments?

January 13th, 2012 3 comments

The embroidery machine is brother 190-d using a memory card, but as i can download free patterns or use my own want to know how.

By reading another persons answer to a different question I have just found a great site for you to look at. It has a list of sections on machine embroidery, and has a section on exactly what you want. Its called digitising step by step. There are also many things that it will clarify for you which you can do with your machine.
