Embroidery: how do i convert .ttf files to a .pes file?

November 21st, 2011 1 comment

I am new to embroidery and am looking for a pretty monogram font for our initial to put on kitchen towels…I can’t figure this out…trying to download a free one, but it’s in a .ttf file. My machine only recognizes .pes or .dst files. How can i convert this? Or, where can I find free downloads already in .pes format? Thanks!

Embroidery machines only recognize machine embroidery formats.

You will need machine embroidery digitizing software for what you are wanting to do. This software starts at about $1,000.

You can find many free embroidery downloads by googling "free machine embroidery designs".

Most will be either pes or they will offer pes as an option.

If you find something you really like in a format other that pes or dst, you can convert to pes with conversion software. Pulse Ambassador is one program that you can download and use and it is free. It has to be a machine embroidery format.

Google and they will come.

Eight different morphing options are available for your use at the click of a mouse: Pinch, Ripple, Skew Horizontal, Wave Horizontal, Punch, Twirl, Skew Vertical and Wave Vertical. Using these morphing effects allows to modify designs as desired. In our example we’ve changed a butterfly design using the morphing effects “punch” and “twirl factor”. Beginner’s Guide to Crochet Flowers for Paper Crafts, Cards, Scrapbooking

November 15th, 2011 12 comments

A year ago I got “the bug” to learn how to make crochet flowers. I really wanted to use them on my paper crafting projects! Looking back over my 1st year now I’m doing an introduction video for paper crafters who want to make crochet flowers just for paper crafts. And don’t already know how to crochet! lol

My suggestions:
Youtube – Theresa (Art of Crochet) and Mikeysmail – he just put up a brand new line of beginner videos!
Library – children’s section, search for crochet. Easy projects, lots of pictures! lol

Next trip to Wal Mart buy:
Size C (or D) Crochet hook – $1.30
Size 3 white crochet thread (not embroidery!) – $2
Needle point needles – $1.50
Use a bag you own to be your “embroidery” bag.

The library also has flower crochet books – get on the waiting list! lol In the adult section.

DVD Title: Creative Machine Embroidery with Alison Holt

Alison Holt is a world-class machine embroiderer who devoted nearly 30 years to creating, teaching and writing books about the art of free-hand Machine Embroidery. In this DVD, we explore creating flowers, foliage and landscapes with Alison as she provides step by step instruction in how to create the magnificent flowers and photo-like landscapes that have made her famous. In “Part Four – Penylan Lane” Alison combines all the skills learned in Parts 1 thru 3 and adds some new techniques — specifically working with a series of photographs to create an original machine embroidered work of art, “Penylan Lane”. “Penylan Lane” is a road in Oswestry, Shropshire, near the Welsh Border in the English countryside. It has magnificent wild flowers such as daisies, poppies, and cow parsley, hedgerows, fields, and tall wild grasses. Alison uses more than 20 colors of thread to achieve the magnificent and one of a kind landscape, “Penylan Lane”, the Cover and Centerpiece of this educational DVD. The theme music, “Penylan Lane” which plays in the background was written by the Director, Andrew Galli (ascap), specifically for the film.
